This year’s Topps Football base cards were filled with excellent
photography and design which has carried over to 2012 Topps Chrome
Football. Collectors of the base
set will appreciate the shiny version and various refractor parallels. With

PLEASE NOTE
It is important to point out something that will only affect the secondary market with these 1965 style cards. More specifically the autographed versions and collectors ability to recognize them as authentic. This is the back of the David Wilson card we pulled.
If you look closely, this non-autographed card carries this statement.
"The signing of all Topps autograph cards is witnessed by a Topps representative to guarantee authenticity."
This is an important fact in general, but might lead you to believe this card should be autographed. It also opens the door for unscrupulous people to try and fake a signature and pass it off as a real auto card. After all the statement is on the card and why would it be there otherwise?
Let's take a look at the non-auto and auto versions for Robert Griffin III.
There are some clear differences between the two, but as an informed collector the one that is the key difference is this one.
"TOPPS CERTIFIED AUTOGRAPH ISSUE"
So just be aware, if the autograph card you are looking to purchase in the secondary market does not have the "TOPPS CERTIFIED AUTOGRAPH ISSUE" on the FRONT of the card and is missing the slightly faded area for the signature, someone is trying to pull a fast one on you. The backs should also include the limited numbering for the card but Do not just go by the backs of these cards alone

Overall Look
Just like the regular set this year, the addition of a
dedicated design for the base set is a welcomed change. As to be expected, the
photography is excellent. The inserts and die cuts look great too.
Quality and Variety of Players
At 220 base cards the checklist is rookie card heavy to
fulfill the 1 RC card per pack promise. What’s left are premium quality players
for a list that is very good overall.
Do the hits hold up?
Our auto was on-card, always a plus. There are some premium hits to be had
with the QB Rookie Reprint Autographs, but those are a tough pull. Collectors won’t mind because the real
stars of this product are the now proven current rookies and the low numbered
refractor parallels, more specially the superfractors.
